Shout out to rapper 2 Chainz, who just became a spokesperson for the Hip Hop Caucus.
The Hip Hop Caucus, is an organization designed to encourage young people to get involved in voting, along with other community service projects.
As spokesperson, 2 Chainz will work to encourage young people to exercise their right to vote.
Here’s what 2 Chainz had to about the position:
“As a youth offender, I spent much of my adult life feeling like I couldn’t participate in the democratic process. Like I had ruined my chances. It’s only recently that I learned that my voting rights could be reinstated. That meant me and many like me had rights we were unaware of. I joined the Hip Hop Caucus‘ “Respect my Vote!” campaign to help inform and empower the minorities and disconnected of this country. And it isn’t just about felons. It’s young people, women, families. Voting effects our communities, schools, jobs. It’s important.”
The rap group Travis Porter, have also joined the Hip Hop Caucus in addition to 2 Chainz. Remember to make sure you register to vote, and actually participant in the election.
